Special issue FEMS Microbiol Letters

Thematic Issue on New insights into the nitrogen cycle.

Editors: Serena Rinaldo (Serena.Rinaldo@uniroma1.it), Francesca Cutruzzolà (Francesca.Cutruzzola@uniroma1.it), Gary Rowley (G.Rowley@uea.ac.uk), David Richardson (D.Richardson@uea.ac.uk).

This thematic issue will focus on new advances in nitrogen cycle research and will cover the most relevant pathways of the bacterial nitrogen cycle pathways, including denitrification, nitrification, dissimilatory nitrate reduction to ammonia, anaerobic ammonium oxidation, nitrate assimilation and nitrogen fixation. This thematic issue is connected to the “25 th European Nitrogen Cycle Meeting” organized in September 2022 (Rome, Italy). Non-attendees are also welcome to submit.

All material to be considered for publication in FEMS Microbiology Letters should be submitted in electronic form via the journal's online submission system. If you are interested in contributing to the thematic issue please mail to serena.rinaldo@uniroma1.it: you will be included as invited author in the editorial manager to get instructions on how to submit your manuscript. All submitted papers will be subjected to our standard independent peer-review. All manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter, which should include a short statement, in 3–4 sentences, describing:

  • how the work is related to the scope of journal
  • why should it be published in this journal?
  • the aims of the study and their significance with regard to previously published work
  • the novelty and originality of the findings.

Authors should specify 'Nitrogen Cycle 2022' in the cover letter. Publications include original papers, mini reviews and commentaries. Prospective authors for MiniReviews or Commentaries must contact the issue’s Editor in advance.
